Thinking this morning of "Fresh Starts" and one we wrote about in our book:

“January 1955 rolled around quickly. I found myself sitting in the captain’s office waiting for my discharge papers and bonus pay. My four-year hitch was over. I was ready to go home and begin my life as a civilian. I even had some money in my itching pockets! I loaded the car, said goodbye to my service buddies, and headed for Chicago.”
